Rather than let you piece the inclusion list together at the till, I would sooner print it plainly. The Side quad safari tour runs from our base in the Manavgat countryside, and EUR 25 per adult and EUR 15 per child covers all of the following:

• Round-trip hotel transfer. We collect you from your hotel in the Side area and drive you back when you are showered and done. The exact pickup time is confirmed the day before and varies from hotel to hotel.
• Safety briefing by certified instructors. Throttle, brakes, body position, convoy spacing and hand signals, explained before anyone touches a machine.
• A supervised test drive. You ride a practice circuit at the base while an instructor watches, before the convoy goes anywhere near the forest.
• 1.5 to 2 hours of off-road riding. Forest tracks, dust, water splashes and, depending on the season, proper mud.
• Changing cabins and showers. You will want both. Mud is not an accident on this tour; it is the product.

How the three hours run

The shape of the day is simple. Our driver picks you up at your hotel and brings you to the quad base outside Side. You get the safety briefing, then the supervised test drive, and once the instructors are happy the convoy sets off for 1.5 to 2 hours of riding on forest and farm tracks. Back at the base you rinse off in the showers, change into dry clothes in the cabins, and the same vehicle returns you to your hotel.

The test drive: nobody rides out cold

This is the part of the inclusion list I would defend hardest. Most guests have never sat on a quad before, and a two-minute verbal briefing is not enough to find out who freezes on the brakes. So every rider does a supervised test drive on the practice area first. The instructors watch how you steer, how you use the throttle, and whether you can stop where you intend to stop. If something is off, they correct it there, on flat ground, not halfway down a forest track. It costs you a few minutes of the programme and it is the reason the riding portion stays fun rather than nervous.

What is sold as an extra at the base

Now the other side of the ledger. These items exist at the base, they are optional, and they are not in the EUR 25:

• Photo and video service. A media team shoots the group along the route and sells the results back at the base. You are free to look and free to walk away.
• Food and beverages. There is a spot to buy drinks and snacks at the base. Nothing edible is included in the tour price.
• Protective bandana. Sold at the base for the dust. More on this below.
• Safety goggles. Also purchasable at the base.
• Personal extras. Anything else you pick up on the day is on you.

This is the classic surprise on every quad tour on this coast, ours included, so let me spell it out. A convoy of quads on dry summer tracks throws up serious dust. The lead machine gets the clean air; everyone behind gets a share of what the tyres lift. A bandana over your mouth and nose and something over your eyes make the ride noticeably more comfortable, which is exactly why both are on sale at the base rather than given away.

You do not have to buy either. A buff or scarf from your suitcase does the bandana's job, and ordinary sunglasses keep most of the dust out of your eyes - plenty of our guests ride with exactly that. But if you arrive with nothing, expect the offer, and decide calmly rather than feeling ambushed. I would rather you read this paragraph now than grumble about it at the base.

One rider or two: how the seat pricing works

The pricing is per person, not per machine, and it helps to understand why. The adult rate of EUR 25 buys a seat in the transfer vehicle, the instructor briefing and supervision, the riding time and the use of the base facilities - the quad itself is only one part of that cost. The child rate of EUR 15 applies to children who ride as passengers behind an adult; they take a transfer seat and use the facilities too, just without their own machine.

Two adults sharing one quad still pay the adult rate each, for the same reason: almost everything in the package scales per head, not per vehicle. If you both want the full driving experience, take a machine each - the price does not change per person either way, so the choice is about how you want to ride, not about saving money.
