This is a local hamam excursion, not a five-star hotel spa, and I would rather set that expectation clearly than sell you a fantasy. The price is a fixed, all-in figure for the core ritual: transfer, heat rooms, scrub, foam, oil massage, and cover. The kese-foam-oil sequence, step by step

The value of a hamam is in the order of the steps, not just the list. If you have never been, this is what those three hours actually run through, in sequence.

• Warm-up in the heat rooms. You start in the sauna and steam room. The point is to open the pores and soften the skin so the scrub that follows does its job. Take your time here; do not rush it.
• The kese peel. An attendant works over your whole body with the kese, a coarse mitt. It lifts off a surprising amount of dead skin. First-timers are often startled by how much comes away; that is normal and it is the point.
• The foam wash and massage. Next you lie on the heated marble slab and the attendant covers you in warm soap foam, then washes and massages you through it.
• The aromatherapy oil massage. To close, a relaxing oil massage. After the heat, the scrub and the foam, your muscles are loose and this is where the excursion winds down.

What is not included (the honest bit)

I will not pretend the ticket covers everything, because it does not. The excludes are short and predictable:

• Beverages and personal expenses. Tea, water and anything you buy on site are separate.
• Extra beauty treatments. If you want a facial or similar on top of the core ritual, that is purchasable on the day at extra cost.
• Extended massage time. The oil massage in the ritual is a set length. Want it longer? You can buy more time when you are there.

That is the list of extras. There is no compulsory tip, no entry surcharge and no hidden transfer fee on top of the excursion price.

Who this suits, and who it does not

This excursion is the right choice if you want the full kese-foam-oil ritual at a fixed price and you are relaxed about a busy, hands-on setting. It is a working hamam, so expect other guests and an attendant scrubbing you down rather than whispered hotel-spa calm. The kese in particular is firm work, not a light rub, and the foam wash happens out in the open on the marble, not behind a closed door. If your idea of a treatment is a private hotel spa, that will suit you better and cost you a great deal more. If you want the kese, foam and oil sequence done properly on hot marble, this is exactly it. Children are welcome and priced at EUR 10, and the ritual is gentle enough for them once an adult is with them.

Keep it simple. Bring swimwear to wear during the treatment, and flip-flops if you have them. Towels are provided on site. Do not go in on a very full stomach, since the heat rooms feel stronger after a large meal, and drink water afterwards to rehydrate because the heat and the scrub take it out of you. Leave valuables at the hotel or in the lockers rather than the treatment area. You are picked up from your hotel in the morning; the exact time is confirmed the day before and varies hotel to hotel, so allow for that when you plan the rest of your day. Since beverages and personal expenses are not in the ticket, carry a little cash if you want tea or water on site.
