Full description
Your day begins as our air-conditioned van pulls up outside your Kumkoy hotel and our friendly guide checks you in for the adventure ahead. Leaving the sandy resort strip behind, we wind inland toward the Taurus Mountains, the landscape shifting from holiday boulevards to pine-clad slopes and silver olive groves. The road climbs gently alongside babbling streams until the cool, fragrant air of Koprulu Canyon National Park signals that the wild heart of Antalya is near.
At the rafting base you are kitted out with a helmet, life jacket and paddle, then given a clear safety briefing before sliding into the bracingly cold, snowmelt-fed Kopru River. Over roughly 14 kilometres you and your crew dig your paddles into bubbling Grade II-III rapids, drift through emerald-green calm stretches, and float beneath sheer canyon walls and the graceful stone arch of the ancient Roman Oluk Bridge. Your guide times the rhythm of every stroke, calls out the splashy drops, and pauses at natural pools where you can leap from low rocks and swim in water so clear you can count the pebbles below.
Back at the riverside camp you trade your wetsuit for dry clothes and tuck into a generous open-buffet lunch of grilled chicken, fresh salads and seasonal fruit at long wooden tables shaded by towering pines. There is time to sip a glass of cay, browse the little craft stalls or simply soak up the canyon's birdsong before we load up for the scenic drive back to the coast. You will return to Kumkoy sun-kissed, pleasantly tired and already plotting your next splash - reserve your seat now and let the Kopru River show you a wilder side of your holiday.
