Accessibility
Our excursions are not all alike. Some may suit wheelchair users; others involve stairs or steps, getting in and out of vehicles, climbing onto boats or walking on uneven ground. We do not call a tour wheelchair accessible unless the arrangements for that tour have been checked, so this page explains what each kind of tour usually involves and what to ask us before you book.
1. Travelling with a wheelchair or limited mobility?
We want you to enjoy your holiday on an excursion that suits you. Before you book, tell us about your mobility: whether you can walk or stand, whether you can climb steps, and whether you can move from your wheelchair into a vehicle or boat. Our team will check the arrangements available and help you see which tours may suit you.
2. Accessibility depends on the tour
Whether a tour suits you depends on whether you can walk or stand, even briefly; whether you can climb a few steps or stairs; whether you can move from your wheelchair into a vehicle, boat or bus; whether you can get in and out of the water on your own or with suitable help; the type of wheelchair you use; and the conditions and equipment on that excursion.
3. Boat trips and swimming
Some wheelchair users can join a boat trip, but boarding must be checked in advance. Getting on board may involve steps or stairs, and room for a wheelchair on board may be limited. Reaching the water usually means climbing down a ladder or steps, and climbing back on board after swimming; getting into the water may be possible while getting out again is hard without suitable facilities and help. Being able to board the boat does not mean the swimming is accessible: if you cannot stand, walk or use a ladder, please discuss swimming with us before you book.
4. Green Canyon tours
Green Canyon tours can involve several physical steps: getting on and off the transfer vehicle, steps to board and leave the boat, little room to move around on board, and steps or ladders to enter and leave the water. Boarding and leaving the boat may need physical assistance, and access to restaurants and other stops varies. We do not describe Green Canyon as wheelchair accessible: contact us before you book and we will check the boat, the vehicle and the boarding arrangements.
5. Jeep safaris
A jeep safari may be possible for some guests with limited mobility, depending on the vehicle and on you. Getting in and out of a jeep means stepping up or down, and the vehicles may have no wheelchair access or lift; if you cannot move from your wheelchair into the vehicle, a different arrangement may be needed. Some stops involve uneven ground, steps or short walks, and waterfalls, viewpoints and restaurants differ: a restaurant stop may be accessible while another stop on the same tour is not. Tell us about your mobility and we will check the specific tour.
6. Bus tours and long-distance excursions
Pamukkale, Cappadocia, Antalya and other sightseeing tours travel by bus or minibus. Getting on and off may mean climbing steps, and the vehicles may have no wheelchair lift. Some destinations involve longer walks, historic sites can have uneven paths, stairs or limited wheelchair access, and some viewpoints and attractions cannot be reached by guests who cannot walk. Transport alone does not make a tour accessible: we check the vehicle, the itinerary and the sites of the tour you choose.
7. Rafting, quad and buggy safaris, and diving
These activities ask more of you. Rafting: getting into and out of the raft, reaching the river and moving around the activity area may need mobility or help. Quad and buggy safaris: you need to get into and out of the vehicle, and driving needs you to sit securely and use the controls; passenger places are confirmed with the operator. Diving: discuss your mobility with the diving provider before you book, as boarding, entering the water and coming back on board may need specific help and arrangements. We do not class these activities as suitable or unsuitable: ask us and we will confirm what yours involves.
8. Guests who cannot walk
If you cannot walk, stand or move out of your wheelchair on your own, some excursions may be difficult or unsuitable, especially those with boats, ladders, buses or vehicles without wheelchair access. We still look at every request: tell us what you need and we will check whether a suitable arrangement is possible. We never promise access or help that the tour operator has not confirmed.
